Celebrating Food Museum’s ​ School Dinners Exhibition

Maria Traka attended Parliament last week to celebrate the huge success of the School Dinners exhibition at the Food Museum winning the National Temporary Exhibition of the Year Award at the 2026 Museums & Heritage Awards in London. ​

F&N-NBRI provided the nutrition information on school dinners throughout the decades for this exhibition which opened in April 25. ​

Focusing on school dinners and their huge potential to transform the lives and health of children, the day included inspiring talks from Jo Ralling of The Food Foundation and the Deputy Mayor of London, Joanne McCartney.

Dr Grace Bennett , F&N-NBRI Research Scientist has been working on the Zero Hidden Hunger EU Project establishing the bioavailability of Iron from haem (meat) and non-haem (plant based) sources

Grace has written a blog covering the importance of Iron, Iron sources and why its important to understand current intakes of bioavailable iron within European populations so that we can then predict how the introduction of more plant-based foods into our diets may alter our intake of bioavailable iron.
