What makes iron bioavailable and what does it mean for population health across Europe

Dr Grace Bennett , F&N-NBRI Research Scientist has been working on the Zero Hidden Hunger EU Project establishing the bioavailability of Iron from haem (meat) and non-haem (plant based) sources

Grace has written a blog covering the importance of Iron, Iron sources and why its important to understand current intakes of bioavailable iron within European populations so that we can then predict how the introduction of more plant-based foods into our diets may alter our intake of bioavailable iron.
